US terrorist database growing at rapid rate

planeThe U.S. government is rapidly expanding the number of names it accepts for inclusion on its terrorist watch list, with more than 1.5 million added in the last five years, according to numbers divulged by the government in a civil lawsuit.

About 99 percent of the names submitted are accepted, leading to criticism that the government is “wildly loose” in its use of the list.

Those included in the Terrorist Screening Database could find themselves on the government’s no-fly list or face additional scrutiny at airports, though only a small percentage of people in the database are actually on the list.

It has been known for years that the government became more aggressive in nominating people for the watch list following al-Qaida operative Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s failed effort to blow up an airplane over Detroit on Christmas Day 2009.

Convert, pay tax, or die, Islamic State warns Christians

islamIslamist insurgents have issued an ultimatum to northern Iraq’s dwindling Christian population to either convert to Islam, pay a religious levy or face death, according to a statement distributed in the militant-controlled city of Mosul.

The statement issued by the Islamic State, the al Qaeda offshoot which led last month’s lightning assault to capture swathes of north Iraq, said the ruling would come into effect on Saturday.

It said Christians who wanted to remain in the caliphate that the Islamic State declared this month in parts of Iraq and Syria must agree to abide by terms of a dhimma contract – a historic practice under which non-Muslims were protected in Muslim lands in return for a special levy known as jizya.

US embassies cower in fear of al Qaeda, despite NSA spying

islamMcClatchy reported recently on the closing of U.S. embassies in 21 predominantly Muslim countries. The U.S. State Department issued a broad caution about travel during August, which sparked debate over the National Security Agency’s spying on American citizens.

Barack Hussein Obama’s State Department, led by Secretary John F. “Swift Boat” Kerry, attributes the embassy closings to Muslim observance of Ramadan:

Given that a number of our embassies and consulates were going to be closed in accordance with local custom and practice for the bulk of the week for the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan, and out of an abundance of caution, we’ve decided to extend the closure of several embassies and consulates including a small number of additional posts.

Ramadan is a Muslim holiday, during which terrorists are typically extraordinarily active, reinforcing Islam’s stellar image as a “religion of peace.” The State Department did not say whether or not additional security was being deployed at embassies. Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton withdrew security from the U.S. consulate at Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2011, leading to the death of four Americans, including the U.S. Ambassador.

No one in the Obama Regime has yet explained how tracking telephone numbers, capturing email messages, and other spying on American citizens gathers any intelligence that might be useful in combating Muslim terrorists. Yet the NSA spying continues unabated, with many Republican members of Congress, such as Sen. Lindsey Grahamnesty (RINO-SC), defending the unConstitutional surveillance.

Hillary accepts responsibility for everything, blame for nothing

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton testified before a U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on January 23, 2013.

Four Americans died on September 11, 2012, when Islamic terrorists attacked the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

In the days that followed, President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and other regime officials began to claim that an otherwise peaceful protest turned violent because of a little-known YouTube video that allegedly “insulted Islam.” They repeated this lie to the American public for some time, despite knowing that the attack was planned and carried out by al Qaeda elements within Libya.

The President offered only vague, boilerplate remarks about “bringing the attackers to justice” on September 12. Listen carefully, though, as Obama begins to shift the narrative:

We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. But there is absolutely no justification to this type of senseless violence. None.”

When Obama says “denigrate the religious beliefs of others,” he is subtly blaming the attack on an obscure YouTube video. The inference you are supposed to draw is that expression that undermines or questions Islamic beliefs must be suppressed.

Red State posted about this on October 17, 2012. How exactly Obama’s thinly veiled attack on the free speech rights of Americans amounts to preserving, protecting and defending the Constitution escapes us.

And on October 19, Hot Air‘s Ed Morrissey catalogued the Obama regime’s trail of lies about what motivated the deadly attack and who carried it out.

Hillary finally appeared before the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee on January 23, 2013 to give testimony about the incident. Most of Hillary’s Republican inquisitors failed to ask any meaningful or relevant questions. Democrats appeared to be helping Hillary launch her 2016 campaign for President. And no one asked her who ordered US counter-terrorism forces to “stand down” – in essence, refrain from responding to cries for help from the ambassador, consulate security, and CIA officers on the scene.

Watch as Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) questions Secretary Clinton:

In summary, Hillary accepts responsibility for everything, but blame for nothing.

We suspect Obama himself issued the “stand down” order, but it appears much less likely now that Congress will ever pursue an answer to this important question.
